The Personnel Support Unit of the presbytery serves to evaluate, provide counsel and support, and oversee personnel policies relating to exempt and non-exempt staff. The membership of the unit shall be comprised of six members, three of whom are Ministers of the Word and Sacrament and three of whom are Elders. The term of service shall be for three years arranged in three classes. An individual may be eligible for a second or partial term of service not to exceed six years. The Chair, or a representative designated by the unit, shall serve on the Coordinating Council.
The responsibilities of the Unit include: |
o Annually reviewing the work of all presbytery non-exempt staff members;
o Reviewing staff job positions and recommending adjustments to the Coordinating Council as necessary;
o Reviewing and evaluating the work of the Executive Presbyter, and any other exempt staff, every three years with a full evaluation in the fifth year;
o Supporting the presbytery staff and serving as a body for the resolution of staff conflict and as a place of recourse for grievances;
o Annually review salaries and benefits making recommendations for merit pay
increases, cost of living adjustments, benefits, or other changes, as
appropriate;
o Nominate members for search committees to be elected by presbytery in the
event of staff vacancy.
The Unit shall report to presbytery as necessary.
